The oral traditions that got us to here were/have been downplayed/degraded into ‘tales’ and denigrated by the ones who made/make their living by taking over what was the women’s world of tending. Midwives/wise women were often called witches. Where does this leave us?

We older women especially (who learned before there was the formal education push) learned as the old system of masters/apprentices – or through our life experience . .which in my case is h-u-g-e.

Why? I needed to . . and this is what I found . .

There is so much we do not get taught (cultural/assumed knowledge) when we sign yup for any course.
And when we DO sign up for a course – it is often very specialsed – we may need to look at the generalised ways.

Oral traditions . .all women know the women need to teach women’s business – and we all do it with our own flavour).

As an amazingly successful acupuncture specialist and acupuncture course designer/writer/teacher and practical clinician, and always a hands-ful worker – I followed the Maya/Arvigo ways, trained in Mercier, investigated Mizan.

 

What I found  They were all too embedded in the dominant traditions of ‘safety’ and medical/men’s validation.  I feel that we  need to go back further – and to what our mums would have taught us (if they knew/felt as thought that they were ‘good enough’.
