Scar tissue

Welcome

What is a scar?
A scar is a natural part of the healing process that results from the biological process of wound repair.
It thus is an area of fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after an injury.

Scar tissue is composed of the same protein (collagen) as the tissue that it replaces, but the fiber composition of the protein is different. Instead of a random basket weave formation of the collagen fibers found in normal tissue, in fibrosis the collagen cross-links and forms a pronounced alignment in a single direction. This collagen scar tissue alignment is usually of inferior functional quality to the normal collagen randomised alignment. As an example, scars in the skin are less resistant to ultra violent radiation, and hair and sweat glands do not grow back on the now healed area of skin. If tissue within the heart is damaged – as in a heart attack (loss of blood, thus nourishment to the organ) which leads to loss of muscular power, leading to possible heart failure. Some tissues (such as bone) can heal without any structural or functional deterioration.

When asked about sensation around and on the scarred area, people usually assume it will not regain its normal elasticity as everyone ‘knows’ this. I know that it is very possible to restore the normal feel and look of a scarred area – within reason – burns may be a lot more tricky than cutting wounds.

BUT – but may not understand that the tissues underneath also are in a changed state. This may lead to normal circulation not working as they did – and the entire area being upset

After an incident, accident or/and an operation, you may feel lucky to be alive still
You may be glad ‘it was not as bad as expected’
You may even be proud of the wounds.
BUT is your body still the same?
often we are aware of change

It looks different
It feels different than t did.
In my job as a problem solving acupuncturist – I very often found that if I worked any scar I foud it often released all else.

How?
We are made of more than physical.
Seemingly healed scars carry many layers – and very often stories.

and what it meant to the recipient of my care) BEFORE I attended to whatever they were wanting me to ‘fix’.

We all carry the reminders of a life lived
We likely have broken the skin, at least once.
Healing happens – depending on the levels of hydration and nutrition available,

Adhesions
Can happen with or without this.
They form within.
They do bunch the skin up – puckering what was a flat surface

Scars show that we have breached the interface – inside (us) and outside (the world).

Often many things happen concurrently – and we may need to retrieve the balance broken.

GATES – for all flows all through/inside/outside the body . .
(NEVER MIND the trauma that this entailed)

BLOCKING FLOWS . .

MY LIFE TRAINING
I was taught acupuncture in 1977 by a chiropractor who intended that we all went out and made a difference.
We had an eclectic training. and soft tissue breaking.
I thought all acupuncturists had these tools . .
It was quite a while before I discovered not – and thus the Foundational Moves online course is here.
The scar add-on will appear soon.
It is a gift that forever keeps on giving.
What a good thing I had one in 1994.
Not intended but I can see the logic of my soul scripting this as the last birth – to experience what a C section can do forever more.

When I started in clinic in 1979 – I saw mainly women – and those who had ‘been in the wars’.
Bellies crisscrossed often with scars – and the adhesions below them.
Prior to laproscopies – the knife was the only way to check – and a life saver.
The stitch marks were usually bigger then than the laproscopy scars are in total. What with a combination of the GB out, the appendix gone, multiple belly ops and the stitch marks – sometimes massive in themselves – and in one case – the adrenal gland removed from the front – hence a total under ribs – both sides – from left to right – all was impressive! Then sometimes Indented massively as the adhesions took over.

I wondered . .
How could a body work as before?
I designed Moving Blockages as away forwards.

I became adept at lymph drainage, clearing adhesions and unblocking scars.
Bellies – and joints (no arthroscopies back then) obviously needing fixing – before I thought of what point to use.
I needed to ‘clear the decks’ before I thought of ‘diagnosis’ or which point might help . .
Not yet – as there was a GATE across the lines/channels of energy.
Many were often all bunched up. Maybe discoloured.
Sometimes totally guarded as they were unable to be touched.
THAT was the first problem – not flowing – body can’t work as designed . .
Much like this car – no amount of patch ups will help – MUST realign that wheel.
Neither can we run well when misaligned.

ENERGETICALLY: Flows blocked. The physical healing has been incomplete. Add to this the emotional charges as the event occurred.
You may also be dealing with Reichian armour bands also shut tight now.

MECHANICALLY:  Scar tissue is not nearly as elastic as is normal tissue.  It is also much weaker.  WHY? The individual tissue fibers of normal connective tissue tend to line up in a nice, parallel fashion in relationship to each other – think of well-combed hair).  Scar tissue can have various degrees of ‘tangledness‘.  This is simply connective tissues that due to some sort of injury (traumatic or repetitive) are running every conceivable direction in all three dimensions.

ELECTRICALLY:  Because injury frequently injures (stretches or tears) the tiny nerve branches that are found within the tissue itself, there can be and often times is hyper sensitization that takes place.  Stimulus that should not cause pain causes pain, and / or stimulus that should cause a little pain causes severe pain (Allodynia and Hyperalgia respecitively).

BIOCHEMICALLY:  Scar tissue is not as as metabolically active as is the normal tissue around it.
It is thus easier to be re-injured and slower to heal.
Needed – access at a cellular level to more body building ingredients.

can radically change YOUR life.

We can improve healing.
If we allow the body to do its job.
Ingredients needed.
Rest – so the body can focus on repair.
Clean plentiful water – to allow the ‘inner sea’ to flush away what is not need and to bring in what is.
Warmth – to encourage the flows of nutrients and oxygen) to the now busy area, and to ensure the body’s healing is unobstructed.
Nutrients – protein (collagen is made from minerals, vitamins and basic amino acids. From nourishing regenerative foods
(All of this is especially important when a C section – mum has to make milk for baby, as well as recover herself from that epic adventure and the womb must shrink from being over a kilogram, back to a tiny pear shaped potential future baby nest.(
The just birthed womb being at the time of baby exit being the largest muscle of the body. It has then an inner wound the size of a dinner plate (where the placenta interfaced the endometrium/inner womb surface. Rest, warmth, abundant water and foods are the key to all post natal healing. On the physical level. This is before any tearing, cutting or operations.

Emotionally – mum needs to feel safe, and be looked after as she heals, bonds and learns the rhythms of being a new mum.
As with anything – the state of hydration, nutrition and ability to rest to heal after injury are crucial. As is the circulation of Qi and lymph and blood. What affects these? Cold entry (never use ice on a damaged part), and the loss of movement as it hurts are factors. In all East Asian ‘hit ‘ medicine, movement is enhanced to allow the healing substances in and the results of the breakdown of tissue and assorted extras – out. Pain (something is stuck – normal flows are not able to flow) experienced in an injury serves as a warning. See more on helping pain here.
By numbing it (pretending it is not in need of rest and inner repair) so you can continue what you wish to do – when your body needs to heal FIRST – is needed. (Take out the cold – Reset Your Metabolism)
