Post baby protocol

Welcome all . .

Context .  .

I saw Rosa at 10 weeks deeply sick.
She was (as usual in these cases) low thyroid as her bum was cold.

Back ground . .her mum found me . .

‘In my search for someone who specializes in pregnancy related acupuncture and someone available near Greymouth your name came up for both. I spoke to Cameron Tukapua, who holds you in very high esteem. I also spoke to the girls at Acupuncture NZ, who said you are based in Australia and that you visit Greymouth and may do some treatments in the area. My daughter Rosa, has intended emailing you this week and is feeling overwhelmed with tiredness, nausea and teaching commitments. I am visiting from Canterbury and asked if she would like me to contact you. She said ‘Yes PLEASE!’
Rosa (31) teaches at Greymouth High School and had had 3 consecutive miscarriages. She conceives easily and is pregnant again (8+ weeks). This time she is using vaginal progesterone and is feeling very sick and occasionally vomiting. She takes this as a good sign though would love some relief as it makes her job challenging. She would also love to have something that will support her throughout a healthy pregnancy.’

I suggested topical iodine to start . .to use? Daily – I do in the morning – a palm size piece painted onto skin – I do ovary area – and in early pregnancy. Can be anywhere – but the areas needed are a good idea – never on thyroid though – if you’re feeling nauseous also a great idea below your xiphoid (where ribs join up in the centre line above navel.
Not every day in any one place as may leave marks.

Will also sort out all sore breast issues ..
Paint on maybe 1/4 of one breast and go around it as the week goes on.

After first visit .

And the belly never warmed up.
She had also been packed in ice so many times.

‘I have been feeling better than I was. Still nauseous off and on some days, I think it’s more so when I don’t get my eating right. I’m still really exhausted so have been trying to get as much rest as I can. Hoping I get a bit more energy soon’.

Triage – all through the sessions . .

Take out what is not supposed to be there.
Add in more rest, support and love

Let the body reset itself. .
And life will be restored . .
As she had been an avid sportswoman in NZ and the winter .  .
Iced after the blood clot removals – DVT’s – inner and lateral lower legs  .
And of course – she had minimal feeling there.

Usual . .
Shock
Cold
Scars . .
The Covid hit – and she went off healthier and grew baby well – with my words in her ears . .

helped by working from home for much of the middle/end of the journey.

LATE PREGNANCY

Got her back at 35 weeks – her neighbour started the several times a week moxa sacral (hubby would not)  fan – in the last 2 weeks – also started the bum massage after SLQR.

Post natal

No differences – the same as any other time

Spontaneous long posterior labour – was to come to me to sort the lie out in 2 days, but bub opened the baby gate himself.

38 weeks – 7lb 13 and so chilled!
A gorgeous example of what is supposed to be.

I had her on eating liver and pate, and B complex and looking after herself better.
Still with cool belly and cold bum – saw her yesterday -baby 12 days old. Grandma held all through as he slept – not a peep out of him.

What to do?

Triage. .

Cupped out cold

Shock needles.
Lymph drainage.

Oodles of milk – and looking really good – mum with her for the last 2 weeks and all is well . . no jabs -perfect midwifery care and normal as . .

  • So unusual these days!
    What did I also do?
Press GB 39 – is sore and always I use GB 25 (Ki) and Liv 13 (Sp) to gauge how we are going – less bitey than they were in pregnancy – so she knows we are on the right path.

The ‘full stop’ is Ki6, 25.
And her neck was still her neck – next visit I will play with her uterus back in place – that I have not been able to so she has had bub in the way . .

My patient
Always the bub.
