We need to know how to look after ourselves. In times past, initiations were part of the glue that cemented the tribal lore after the young were under mum’s care. She herself was supported by the older women, who had been ‘her’ earlier. Relations and those tasked in special ways – as mid wives possibly – to transition her into where she knew how to be, or had those who had traveled earlier, to encourage and nurture her,. This is/was women’s ways – not retail business opportunities.. Where is maternal knowing now also? We endeavour to retrieve what is needed – as an owner’s manual was not installed – it belongs/belonged to all who came before us.
