A normal position of baby lying where s/he feels best ‘at home’
For whatever reason.
I suggest that we run down the obvious and maybe make it now
UNcomfy – so bub shifts.
Gently – no pressure.
And has done up to 42 weeks in my clinic – but NO moxa on Bl 67.
What do I do?
Undo why bub is breech – if possible

In the year of writing (2005) What Dads Can Do, I contacted a few people who I knew were ‘birthie’ inclined, and as we were both then living in NZ – me in the back blocks of rural West Coast – I well remember trying to explain to one person – (who did not disclose that she was writing a book for midwives who were doing a short course in acupuncture in Europe) – to bridge the gap in their training into TCM and needling) when she asked me many things. Among them – what to do with breech?

The idea of ‘a dose’ of sessions came up – as it would if you were doing a TCM herbalised version of energy medicine This is NOT moving Qi or why it is obstructed – but forcing the issue.
‘Because the Chinese did this’ is not a good reason – their women in the past were likely living/working forwards bending all day. Baby thus only needed a ‘touch-up’. Modern women slouch, are usually with mispositioned wombs,, creating massive ligament and allied tensions.
Forcing bub out of breech – is this a solution? Why not undo why baby feels best there? Not reasonable to me. I spent decades trying to puzzle out what else had been missing in the male dominated/medicalised acupuncture training I had been subjected to. And the writings from thodse who had come to acup through this model, and were not seeing/feeling Being Women as needed – as all traditional midwives – not now MEDwives did. I gradually undid the assumptions – helped by my having had my 4 children in 1977, 84, 86 and 94.
What all seem to be so scared of – (do watch – a lovely breech birth)
Here is a chart that I have now as part of the Pregnancy Resources available below

Why do I not moxa Bl 67?
Is not needed – Not even as a last resort
Even in 1979 I was not getting the results the Chinese were telling us – always over 90% – I doubted that. Whilst women were likely in China not would have been slouching in modern chairs,.but leaning forwards working with their bodies all day, possibly the moxa Bl 67 may have worked? I knew it was not in my context and set about working out why.. I have much written about his elsewhere. Here are some cases to ponder
Case 1 – Josi – had now her 4th breech
Breech twins – could (and have) looked like ..

She came to see me, as she could not face another C section – w=she had to have a general if this happened, as she had had such problems with the epidurals used in the past. after correcting her past HELPP and high stress and – she had dodgy health.
I then undid her very bent totally out of shape tailbone –
She had an easy fast birth – after 2 C sections (twins both breech also) .
Why not ask ourselves
Why are they settling into breech?
Four of them?
Case 2
Mum wanted a natural water birth as her first 2 boys were. Her third pregnancy – twins and presenting one was always in breech. Now 34 weeks. She had traveled 2 hours to see me as I am, and have always been in her life – the voice of calm and common sense and in this last ‘scare’ her husband said ‘you need to go and see Heather’.
So – 2nd visit 2 weeks after the first calming session, I undid her coccyx. She had waddled in and wandered out – bemused. .
The third visit – I straightened her scoliosis – and she came out and said “I don’t feel pregnant!”
I know how she feels – as I designed some of this work with pregnant with my second son (1984 born). I had looked down to check that my baby was still there – as I have seen so many women do.
After that 2nd visit, she gave herself a day off and lay down in A/C all day (her work place was 40C) baby turned, and stayed down. Now one head down and engaged and the other head down waiting to come
What did I do?
Cleared out why she had a stuck baby gate – by pelvic opening.
Her first baby was posterior and 9 lbs – her sacrum was still sticking out from that. First session was to calm her, as everyone had been fearing her. . She had to drive herself back home 200km. Her back- although the various body workers and chiros she had spent decades seeing had not resolved her long standing issues. I suggested using extras baby support – faja and a baby wrap to stop back pain . .(See more here )

HOW YOU CAN DO THIS ALSO?
See more on this site if you are wondering how to help yourself or others ..
Ask me how – as private mentoring is available. If you wish t undergo an intensive apprenticeship, incorporating womancare – real mothering the mother involves nutrition, soulful living and bodywork. For those not using pricklies, practical need to know (I designed, wrote and taught acupuncture under and post grad courses from 1981) this is included as the acupuncture world revolves around men’s versions/legislations – and the babies and their parents need what has always worked – trusting, not fearing life.
