Welcome
I watch people knitting and wonder – why do they bother?
(It takes so long)
Here is my answer to that problem.
Perth Homebirth Midwives Conference 2017 – just off the plane from Belize-Joshua Tree and teaching at eLotus (L.A.) – no break – from teaching straight onto plane, on then Bne – Perth – and into sessions. Knitting to not sleep – they wanted peggy squares – I made. .
This is FAST
And simple – when you get it
Key changes
1 – Left handed way
2 – Left needle is being stabilised under my left arm.
Random demos
Filmed as the women with me were intrigued.
I could not believe how their slow normal knitting was.
This is a quick summary – mainly for those who can already knit and wish to go faster . .
THIS IS TO SHOW YOU –
Later below are the slow versions
At one minute we go into purl . . .
SLOWER
Knitting off the left needle as usual – and onto the right .
Demo – plain and purl
Casting on
Getting started . . .
- Make a knot.
- Slip needle through
- Insert the needle in BETWEEN the stitches after the initial stitch
Different viewpoint (we are learning as we go how to film for you)
Casting on
Learning to knit – confusing
2 stitches – plain and purl – though plain is also called ‘knit’ . ..
We will start with purl. It is easier to show you how to.
Rib – 1×1
Plain – one stitch – purl the next – this is for bands.
Casting off
You can make it looser by casting off on a larger sized needle.
Practice . . .
